Moving Stillness...

As much as I love capturing sunrises, nighttime along the lakefront can be equally as dramatic. In particular, time-lapse photography fascinates me — capturing in a single shot what happened over a period of time.
This month’s image, “Jet Trails 4,” resulted from two hours spent at Clark Square Park in Evanston. Those white lines in the sky are planes cruising in over the lake to O’Hare. By keeping my shutter open longer, the moving planes came out blurred, while the rocks in the foreground are perfectly in focus. You can even see the strobe lights on the airplanes — they’re the brighter white segments of the trails.
